- Made from a single panel with ‘kovcheg’; two inserted battens on the reverse; the icon contains several fragments of an earlier, probably 17th-century painting (including part of the saint’s head) which has been incorporated into a new panel with new gesso. This restoration, which was done in a Mstera workshop around 1900, was intended to deceive a potential purchaser.
