- Curator's comments
- For the iconography see cat. no. 12 and cat. nos 35 and 41 for other examples. The painting is executed in the style of the 16th century upon the uncertain remains of earlier paint layers and gesso and was probably commissioned by an Old Believer.
Cormack 2007, 133, no. 84
- Not on display
- Made from a single panel with ‘kovcheg’; two inserted battens on the reverse; the paint layer on the background has been scraped down to the gesso and there are later additions of gesso on the side borders.
