- Curator's comments
- This vase copies a Roman glass funerary urn in the Colchester museum, though without the lid, and is one of only two examples so far recorded. It belongs to the series of recreations of Roman glasses in various museums in Britain and abroad made by Powell's in the early years of this century. For further discussion, see J. Rudoe 'Glasses with Histories: Historical Revivals by Harry and James Crofts Powell' in Whitefriars Glass.
