Later 18ct gold consular case with engine turned back and band, the back centred with a shield and garter.
DIAL & HANDS
White enamel dial pinned through the front plate. A raised rim around the front plate instead of a dial-plate. Around the outside, a minute track with lozenge marks at the quarters. Roman hours I-XII, sunk subsidiary seconds 10-60. Gold spade hour and minute hands, blued-steel seconds hand with screwed pipe.
Full-plate with four ringed tapering pillars. A recess and separate bridge on the front-plate for the third wheel and fourth pinion. A separate bridge on the back-plate for the barrel. Gilt-brass barrel with ratchet and click set-up mounted on the barrel bridge. Fusee with chain and standard stop-work, a separate screwed-on pipe around the winding square. Harrison's maintaining power with a brass ratchet wheel. Four wheel train of gilt-brass wheels, the centre wheel solid and recessed into the front plate, the third and fourth wheels with four crossings. Arnold spring-detent escapement with steel escape wheel. Arnold 'Z' type balance running in a screwed-on lower potence with straight moulded foot. Jewelled locking stone, impulse pallet and discharge roller. Steel passing spring. Jewelled bearings from fusee upwards, those for the escapement with endstones. Free-sprung helical balance spring with an amplitude limiting device screwed to the underside of the balance cock table. The balance cock decorated with foliate scrolls and a bird. Standard two-stage motion work.

- 1. The case is later than the watch although probably custom-made.
2. The edge of the front-plate has been filed away, removing the gilding although this does not seem to relate to the fitting of the new case, as the larger diameter ring on its outside retains all its gilding. 3. The serial number on the watch does not fit with the usual Arnold series.
