Silver and gold brooch in the form of a Zulu shield. Applied military trophy in the form of spears and clubs in gold and silver on an oxidised and textured ground. Maker's mark.

- Curator's comments
- Made folloiwng the Zulu wars of the 1870s, when such items were brought to London. The shape copies a Zulu shield in leather with attached millitary trophy. Such shields were displayedin this way when brought to the West and Brog den could have seen them on display at the British Museum. The spears and clubs were both used in battle , both long and short spears, as on the brooch.
