Sugar bowl (cover missing) (pot à sucre 'Régnier unis'); hard-paste porcelain; moulded; of ovoid form with circular foot; gilt handles terminating in feathered masks; painted with 'cameo' portraits within oval shields of Jean Stuart Cte de Buchan (1380-c.1424, Constable of France) and Etienne de Vignolles dit Lahire (imprisoned after failing to rescue Joan of Arc at Rouen, d.1442); portraits flanked by heraldic emblems surmounted by plumed visors on a white ground embellished with gilt ornament; handle terminal and rosette within the upper scroll are decorated with matte gilding; maker's mark.
