Fittings from a small cup.
(i) Gilt-bronze fragment of foil, stamped with a carefully executed interlace pattern, now too fragmentary to interpret, but containing snake-like bodies, 3mm wide, made up of shaped beads within raised borders. This is the only fragment from a group which is not silver, and may only be associated with the other cup fitting fragments.
(ii) two fragments of curved silver-gilt strip, 5mm wide, with six carefully executed ridges. One is pierced by a tiny silver rivet each end. The curvature suggests a diameter of c.42mm.
(iii) thirteen fragments of silver-gilt U-chanelled binding, some in very poor condition. The better preserved suggest a mouth diameter of c.42mm, enclosing a lip of 2mm thickness to a depth of 3mm.
(iv) three small silver-gilt fragments with ridged surface.
(v) five silver rivets, four attached to short lengths of strip.
(vi) curved silver strip, plain, broken at both ends and in poor condition. Perhaps part of a rim clip.
(vii) three tiny fragments of folded silver strip with evidence of punched holes 0.75mm in diameter.
(viii) capsule containing tiny unidentified fragments associated with this find.
