Four sandwich tiles, inlaid plastic clay body, forming a repeat pattern of intersecting squares enclosing rosettes in buff, red and black, all under a clear glaze; 1980,0307.20a features brown instead of red. Maker's mark on reverse.

- Red and brown clays look very similar in the unfired state, which may account for the variation of 1980,0307.20a. For a tile in a different colourway marked '38', see Stoke 1984, no. 78. For a c 1890 tile in a different colourway, see Austwick 1980, pl. 39.
