Four sandwich tiles, inlaid plastic clay brown body, forming a repeat pattern of pale blue eight-point stars and rosettes and brown circles on a white ground, all under a clear glaze. Maker's mark on reverse.

- This tile was probably intended for a civic or domestic interior. See Stoke 1984, 64 for a similar sandwich tile with Design Registration mark for 22 January 1880. This tile design appears in the PRO Design Registration Book under 22 January 1880, No. 345493, registered by Minton Hollins & Co; therefore this tile is incorrectly stamped.
The eight-point star motif is based on 15th-century Moorish tiles from Spain.
