Earthenware tile, solid buff body covered with white slip under a tin glaze, then painted in turquoise, dark blue, and green, and finally glazed all over with a clear lead glaze,with three blue birds amongst foliage. Maker's mark on reverse.

- This design was probably made during De Morgan's Merton Abbey Period (1882-1888), see the design for 'Ten Inch Birds' in J. Catleugh, 'William De Morgan Tiles', London, 1983, p. 165. It may be derived from William Morris's 'Trellis' wallpaper of 1862, see C. Gere and M. Whiteway, 'Nineteenth-century Design: from Pugin to Mackintosh', London, 1993, p. 102, pl. 113.
