The bows on the earring loops do not conform to the rest of the set and, as the loops do not fit the depressions in the case, they are presumably replacements. (Charlotte Gere).
Supplement to original catalogue entry: originally thought to be in a set with the brooches 1978,1002.118 (HG no. 757). The earrings came with the original gift in the late 1970s. The boxed set with earrings missing came later. But the earrings are in a different gold.
