- Text from catalogue of the Hull Grundy Gift (Gere et al 1984) no 359:
Pauline Borghese (1780-1825) was the sister of the Emperor Napoleon. The coloured-gold floral designs on the frame and pendant loop are of high quality; for comparable French goldsmith's work of this period see 451 and 453. Bertrand Andrieu (1761-1822) produced a series of medals of members of the family of Napoleon 1, including this one of Pauline Borghese. See also M. Jones 1979 and Evard de Payolle 1902.
