Curator's comments: Text from catalogue of the Hull Grundy Gift (Gere et al 1984) no. 1067: Possibly by Gorham & Company. According to Rainwater (1975), the Gorham trademark of a lion, anchor and date letter G was adopted for silver in 1868, but it is not known how systematically the marks were used on small goldwork.
