The four layers of the stone are used with great skill to simulate the wreath, the hair, the face and the background. The form of signature is identified as that of Antonio Pazzaglia by Antonio Giuliani (1970) in his article on the Pazzaglias, father, Stephano, and son, Antonio. (Charlotte Gere)
