Switzerland, c. 1935
Digital display watch with a pin pallet lever escapement.
Signature: None, but on the dial is 'SWISS' and on the movement back plate is 'MADE IN SWITZERLAND'.
Case: A gilded case with sun ray decoration on both the front and the back. The hours and minute numbers show through apertures in the case front.
The protection for the numerals is through a glass which slips into a locator inside the front of the case.
Dial & Hands: The discs with Arabic numerals in black with a minute circle in black on the minute disc. On the back of the hour disc is a star wheel with 12 teeth. This is indexed by a tooth which protrudes from the edge of the minute disc at 30. The minute disc is mounted on the cannon pinion.
Movement: Brass plates with a nickel silver balance cock. A steel bridge covers the winding wheels and the barrel ratchet spring.
Ebauche Marks: None.
Frame: A three quarter plate layout with cocks for the pallets and balance.
Barrel and Mainspring: The steel great wheel has the slipping minute wheel mounted upon it. A steel barrel located in the great wheel by four nibs.
Barrel: internal diameter 23.2 mm., height 1.8 mm.
Mainspring: height 1.9 mm., thickness 0.225 mm. The mainspring broken into 8 pieces.
Barrel Arbor: diameter 5.6 mm., snailed.
Hooking: Pressed in from the barrel wall.
Train: Brass wheels not gilded, the second, and third wheels with five crossings. The escape wheel with four.
Jewelling: No jewels.
Escapement: An obtuse angle layout pin pallet lever escapement with a long lever, effectively a double roller and a brass impulse finger. Steel pins in the brass lever.
An equal impulse escapement.
No. of teeth embraced 4½.
Balance & Spring: a monometallic three arm balance with a plain rim. Balance diameter 15.5 mm., thickness 0.5 mm. A self compensating flat spiral spring with 8 ¾ turns.
Means of Regulation: An index on the balance cock registers against a divided scale with 'R A' 'S F' stamped on the balance cock table.
