Silver cased centre seconds watch for the Turkish market with a club tooth lever escapement of the Bovet type.
Case: Silver open face case. A glazed cuvette with a patterned edge protects the movement and enables it to be safely viewed. The glass now replaced with plastic, it is pierced for access to the winding and hand set squares. The case back numbered 5014 with a makers mark "CKG" and an undeciphered stamp with Arabic cyphers. A button in the pendant allows the back to spring open.
Dial and Hands: Although for the Turkish market the dial has Roman numerals. The minute circle is divided so as to show 1/5 seconds. Blued-steel 'Maltese cross' hands.
Cuvette: is fixed to the front plate with 3 edge screws.
Ebauche Marks: 5014
Frame: A skeletonised and heavily engraved frame, the balance cock and the cock for the centre, third and fourth wheels pierced out. A cock for the pallets and escape wheel. The barrel only supported at the front plate end, thus a standing barrel.
Barrel, and Mainspring: The going barrel bottom engraved, the cover scratched M. Continental stopwork allowing four turns of the arbor. Barrel I. diam: 19.0 mm, h. 2.7 mm.
Mainspring: h. 2.5 mm, t. 0.25 mm.
Arbor: diam: 6.5 mm, not snailed.
Train: Very pale gilded brass wheels with five crossings, the escape wheel steel with four crossings. Poor quality train.
Jewelled: From the third onwards. The jewels rubbed in. The balance pivots with ruby endstones, that in the cock in a screwed setting. The front bearing for the seconds pivot not jewelled.
Escapement: Club tooth lever, right angle layout, long lever, single roller, impulse pin elliptical section. Pallet arbor screwed in. The exposed pallet stones with convex locking and impulse faces. A steel escape wheel with chamfered teeth. A mixed escapement.
No of teeth embraced 3 ½.
Balance and Spring: Typical steel balance of a Turkish market watch with 3 blued steel 'ears'. Balance diam. 19.6 mm (across rim 15.7 mm), thickness 0.7 mm. Blued-steel flat spiral spring with 12 turns.
Means of Regulation: Index on the balance cock registering against a crude scale with engraved "S F".
