LARGE SILVER PAIR-CASED HOUR-STRIKING VERGE CLOCK-WATCH WITH REPEAT LEVER.
Circular gilt-brass plates with four turned pillars. Going train with gilt-brass barrel and tangent-screw set-up mounted on the inside of the front-plate. Fusee with chain and standard stop-work. Four wheel train of gilt-brass wheels with solid centre and third wheels, the third wheel and contrate pinion recessed into the pillar-plate and running in a separate bridge. Verge escapement with solid brass crown wheel, steel verge and brass two-arm balance. Riveted potence and riveted counter-potence, the latter with a separate bearing plug. Spiral balance-spring with Tompion regulator, the silver index disc engraved 1-6 in Turkish numerals, and the plate pierced and engraved with scrolling foliage. Gilt-brass balance-cock pierced and engraved with foliate scrolls to both table and foot.
Striking train for hours controlled by rack and snail mechanism. Driven by a fixed barrel with a six-wheel train, the last being a plain pinion. A single hammer strikes the hours on a bell in the back of the inner case. There are levers for strike/silent and for repeating the hour.
DIAL & HANDS
Gilt-brass edge retained by two screws. Silver champlevé dial with an outer circle of minutes numbered 5-60 in Turkish surrounding Hours 1-12 (in Turkish) with lozenge half-hour marks. The dial is signed above and below the centre on two rectangular labels. Blued-steel hands. Inscribed on the back with the a maker's initial and a repairer's inscription.
Silver dust-cap with steel slide-lock. Signed and numbered on the back. On the inside the cap is scratch-numbered and also has the scratched initials of the maker.
Silver pair cases, the inner pierced and engraved around the band with foliate scrolls. At the bottom is an engraved vase in a cartouche and around the pendant is an engraved landscape. The back is centred with a quatrefoil interlaced with a four-point star.
