SILVER-CASED VERGE WATCH WITH CALENDAR AND TIDAL DIAL.

MOVEMENT
Circular gilt-brass plates with four tulip pillars. Gilt-brass barrel with tangent-screw set-up mounted on the back-plate, the silver index now replaced by a blued-steel disc. Fusee with chain and standard stop-work. Four wheel train of gilt-brass wheels, second third and contrate with three crossings. Verge escapement, the crown wheel runs between rivetted potences. The potence passes through a hole in the front-plate and has engraved decoration on the visible side. Brass 3-arm balance with spiral balance-spring. Geared regulation with a silver index disc engraved 5-30. Silver balance-bridge.
A pre-balance spring watch with later balance-bridge and regulation work, original cock removed and holes plugged.

DIAL & HAND
Gilt-brass dial plate with a wheat-ear border to surround the dial.
Silver dial with subsidiaries and apertures. Hours and half hours in the lower dial with an aperture showing days of the week. Upper left, a subsidiary 1-31 for the date. Upper right; age and phase of the moon with a ring showing high tide at London Bridge. At the top, a sector aperture shows the month and the number of days in it.

CASE
Silver case with a cover for the winding hole operated by a lever in the side of the case. The movement is hinged in the case at XII, the bezel is hinged at IX. The pendant is not original.

Motion work.
Gt wheel arbor extended and carries wheel of 14 driving arbor with wheel of 30 with pinion of 4; this arbor carries hour hand. Pinion of 4 drives wheel of 56 carrying day-of-week disc. This wheel of 56 also has a pinion of 14 which gears with two other wheels - one of 62 whose arbor exends through dial to carry date of month hand, th other of 59 whose arbor is extended to carry moon-phase hand and disc.
