- Following the successful acquisition of the celebrated Ilbert collection of clocks (1958,1006 collection), prints and other related materials made possible by the generous donation of funds by Gilbert Edgar CBE Ilbert's watches were then acquired using funds provided by Gilbert Edgar, public donations and government funds.
Formerly in the Robert Atkinson Colln. 1953 when catalogued for the Christie's sale of 27.10.1953. lot 128, the watch had gold pair cases (hallmarked London 1752), the outer chased with a depiction of Britannia, signed 'Moser f'. The watch was bought by Mr Bloomstein for #22. However, when Ilbert acquired the watch from Robert Gardner for #2-10s it no longer had its cases.
