SILVER CASED VERGE COACH WATCH WITH HOUR STRIKING, HOUR REPEAT AND DATE INDICATOR.
Circular gilt-brass plates with four hexagonal pillars. Barrel with ratchet and click set-up beneath the front-plate. Fusee with chain and standard stop-work. Four-wheel going train terminating with a verge escapement. Steel 3-arm balance with spiral balance spring and slide regulator. Pierced and engraved foliate balance bridge with a polished steel coqueret.
Rack striking mechanism, the train powered by a fixed gilt-brass barrel with geared stop-work on the back-plate.
DIAL & HANDS
White enamel dial with an outer circle of minutes numbered 5-60. Arabic hours 1-12 and an inner circle 1-31 for the calendar. Pierced and engraved gilt-brass hour and minute hands, blued steel calendar hand. Levers in the edge of the recessed front-plate provide strike/silent and hour repeat functions.
Silver case with hinged lid and large silver pendant. The lid is now filled in with a silver front panel but was probably glazed originally.
Inside the case a large bell is screwed to a square boss.
