Silver flanged bowl with beaded rim (63 beads in total) on a circular foot-ring. The basal medallion and the rim are decorated with raised relief made using chasing and engraving techniques. The central medallion, enclosed in a circle of 93 beads, is decorated with a scene of a hunter spearing a bear with a tree between the figures and foliage below. The flange is decorated by four scenes separated by busts: the first with a pair of goats and a pair of wild boars with tree and basket between; the second griffins bringing down a horse, flanked by a female bust on the left and a bearded male bust on the right; the third by a pair of recumbent oxen and grazing sheep separated by a tree; the fourth by leopards bringing down a bull flanked by a female bust on the left and a satyr bust on the right.

- Curator's comments
- Bowls of this shape were popular in late-Roman table services. The decoration on the flat rims shows a variety of animals in hunting and pastoral scenes, themes which fall into the general category of Bacchic imagery. The inclusion of griffins, a mythical species, alongside real animals, is a common feature.
