- Curator's comments
- Originally screwed onto an inkstand, with figure twisting to hold a cornucopia for ink and a shell at her feet. See example on New York art market illustrated in Alain Gibbon, Guide des Bronzes de la Renaissance Italienne, Paris 1990 no. 164 for comparison.
See Sotheby's New York 28 November 1980 lot98 for photo of how the piece was mounted with inkwell on cornucopia held by twisting figure and another shell container at her feet. The New York example from Simon Meller in Budapest.
