- Curator's comments
- This rare model of three women being instructed by a winged cupid is a copy of a Sèvres biscuit porcelain (unglazed) group known as 'L'Amour Précepteur' or 'L'Education De L'Amour' in 1763 by Etienne-Maurice Falconet after a drawing by François Boucher. It was known at Derby as 'Lesson in Love' (F19), and was a reissue of 'Sentimental Lesson' (E63), introduced during the so-called "patch-marked" period, circa 1763-69.
