Copper alloy shield-mount in the form of a bird's head, used in the reconstruction of shield 1939,1010.94. Part of the same bird motif as shield-mount 1939,1010.94.C.2. The beak is split and curled, and the head decorated with punched triangles. The eye is represented by a central boss with beaded collar; behind this is crest of cloisonné inlaid garnet work in step-cut cells. Behind the crest is a lappet, made of plaster and covered in gold leaf, forming another small bird's head ending in widening snout with one garnet eye. The centre panel of the lappet had curved triangular decoration consisting of nine odd shaped cells surrounded by three lines of triangular decoration. The head is surrounded by filigree beading.
