- Curator's comments
- This plaquette exists in many collections, and appears to have been cast from an engraved rock crystal which was preserved in the eighteenth century in the collection of Francesco Ricoveri (Gori, Dactyliotheca Smithiana, 1767, ii, p. 249).
Another example in the British Museum is OA.2341.
For examples in other collections see: Molinier 1886, No. 306; Bange 1922, No. 823; Pope-Hennessy 1964, No. 18.
