Painted Limoges enamel plaque; copper, rectangular; the Seven sorrows of Mary; Virgin Mary, nimbed with her head cocked on one side and her hands raised; 7 daggers point down towards her, their hilts embedded in 7 circular cartouches, showing scenes from the Life of Christ: 1. The Circumcision; 2. The Flight into Egypt; 3. Christ in the Temple; 4. Christ, carrying the cross; 5. The Crucifixion; 6. The Deposition 7. The Entombment; on background with yellow-brown flux through which copper visible, painted in grisaille with washes of green, blue, purple and red semi-opaque enamels, outlines drawn in black and highlighted with gilding; counter enamel black-brown flux.
