- Curator's comments
- This is part of a group of objects found in stores at Orsman Road and registered in 2012 as 1906,0721.111-122. No acquisition details were available at this time, but these objects closely resemble the material from the Spanish Iron Age site of Desfiladero de Despeñaperros, donated by Horace William Sandars. This earlier material was registered as 1906,0721.1-110. The items registered in 2012 are not mentioned in the publication of the site (See Sanders, H. (1906) 'Pre-Roman Votive Offerings from Despeñaperros, in the Sierra Morena, Spain', Archaeologia, LX, pp 69-92), nor do they appear in archive photographs of the bequest. The similarities are marked, but the objects cannot be securely provenanced to the site.
