GOLD PAIR CASED VERGE WATCH WITH QUARTER REPEAT.
:
Movement with fusee and chain; verge escapement, spiral balance-spring, brass 3-arm balance. Balance cock pierced and engraved with foliate scrolls. A mask at the junction; diamond endstone in a steel setting.
Gilt-brass dial-plate, gold champlevé dial with Roman hours I-XII, Arabic minutes 0-60 and lozenge half-hour marks. Gold central disc with volutes and signed.
Hands not original.
Gilt-brass dust-cap.
Gold pair cases; both pierced and engraved with floral scrolls with birds and grotesques; outer with medallions containing baskets of fruit, portrait busts and pastoral scenes; outer embossed and with monogram.

- Curator's comments
- 1. The area in the balance cock table under the screwed-on endstone has a separate brass plug fixed in with lead solder. This bush has subsequently been rebushed with a small-diameter brass plug.
2. Similarly the lower end of the potence has a soldered-in plug with a steel slide-in end-piece.
3. The obvious explanation for the existence of these two plugs is that they replace earlier jewelled plugs which for some reason needed replacing but there were no suitable replacement jewels at hand.
