Description
Tile, buff-coloured earthenware covered on the front and sides (and traces on back) with a glossy, presumed tin glaze. Painted in blue with some yellow and purple. In the centre a roundel with: 1 & 4 a double crown in yellow on a pale blue ground; 2 & 3 white with five tongues of flame in manganese purple. On the reverse a label (probably in Henry Wallis's handwriting): `Vatican'.
