Tinned copper alloy buckle: oval inclined loop with tongue rest and cast linear decoration; strangulated tongue with basal shield with incised fret border; hinged triangular plate lobed for five domed-head pseudo-rivets (all now missing except for stubs of three) and incised with fret border enclosing two round-ended crosses in panels divided by zigzags; attachment lugs at back; antique repair to tongue.

Provenance:
Unrecorded, but said to be from "the district of the Rhine and Moselle", Germany; recent research has shown that the vendor has been notoriously unreliable.
