Tapestry (on applied warp threads) roundel, woven separately to be applied to a larger textile (probably a tunic) by sewing; Design in yellow, green, dark blue and brown wool and undyed, plain weave linen on a red wool ground within a border of stylised petals; Design of four birds: lower two confronted, upper two with turned heads; Between birds, and in a central smaller roundel, there are stylised plants; Warp: linen, S spun, tight Z ply, c.11 tpc; Weft: wool and linen, S spun, c.60 tpc; Edges: two plain selvedges, other edges cut or worn; Sewing: remains of sewing, overcasting, in S spun Z ply thread.
