Tombstone of L. Sempronius Flavianus.
The lower part of the stone, including the lower border of the die is lost; the bottom corners of the surviving piece are modern concrete infill. There is extensive weathering and surface damage, obscuring the surface of the two smaller rosettes; there are severe abrasions in an area below and to the right of the central rosette. The top of the left-hand acroterion is chipped off; and there is a hole above the upper right corner of the die.

- Curator's comments
- Like 1873.0521.1, the stone commemorates a soldier of the Ninth Legion, this time a Spaniard. The similarity of the stones in shape, size and decoration suggests perhaps a common stock, to which a personal inscription could be added later as required (albeit to variable technical standards) (CSIR I, 8)
