Description
Straight-sided albarello with flanged rim. Refined earthenware, covered outside with presumed tin glaze; interior and base unglazed. Painted in relief-blue with running foliage round the neck and two panels of similar foliage on the body. One side, a lion rampant with leaf and oak-leaf in background; other side a shield of arms: manganese, two swords in saltire surmounted by a hat. Probably for Cardinal Astorgio Agnese of Naples.
