Description
Plate of earthenware, covered front and back with blue-grey, presumed tin glaze. Painted mainly in dark blue and white. In the centre a shield of arms on a mount with scrolling ribbons, yellow a two-towered castle blue; above, a winged cherub-head. Surrounding, narrow concentric borders of cable pattern, string-of-beads, stylised leaf scrolls, S-twists. On rim, grotesques including fish, trumpets, books, vases. On reverse flowers and leaf scrolls on the rim.
