Plate, slightly convex in centre. Earthenware covered front and back with presumed tin glaze over a slip. Painted decoration including red: in centre Mucius Scaevola, his hand in a flame on an altar. On it hangs a shield of arms for Giocondo?: blue, on a yellow fess between 3 yellow mullets, a blue fleur de lis. Behind him, soldiers; facing him, Lars Porsena, crowned. Grotesques on border including the same shield of arms. Scale pattern and foliage on reverse.
