Book cover; copper gilt and champlevé enamel; Crucifixion with Virgin and St John on either side of the cross; schematic representation of skull at feet of Christ; inscribed plaque above Christ's head; above that, hand of God; two angels on either side: one holds the sun, the other holds the moon in its crescent form; all figures reserved, engraved with fragmentary gilding, enamelled haloes; dark-blue enamel background are enamelled circles and rosettes in light blue, white, green, yellow and red; pierced with fourteen holes for attachment; the transverse arms of cross ornamented with reserved foliage scroll.
