- Curator's comments
- Jan Storm van Leeuwen comments December 2013: probably engraved decoration, for blind tooling. Can be compared with tools in Schmidt-Kunsemuller, perhaps French?
This was either in Lot 569 or 570 of the Purnell sale. It may have been Lot 268 in the Whincopp sale. If it was, it was found at Orford, Suffolk. JC 15.9.95
