SILVER CASED VERGE WATCH WITH ALARM.
Circular gilt-brass plates with four baluster pillars. The pillar-plate has two recesses for the train wheels. Riveted potence and screwed-on counter-potence.
MAINSPRING & SET-UP:
Gilt-brass barrel with pinned-on cap and riveted steel hook. Ratchet and click set-up mounted on the potence-plate, the gilt-brass click pierced and engraved with foliate scrolls, the steel spring elaborately shaped and pierced.
FUSEE & STOP-WORK:
Gilt-brass fusee with chain and standard stop-work.
Four-wheel train of gilt-brass wheels, the second, third and contrate with three crossings. The second wheel and third pinion run in a separate bridge on the pillar-plate.
ESCAPEMENT AND BALANCE:
Verge escapement, the crown wheel, verge, balance and balance spring all replacements. Screwed-on balance cock pierced and engraved with foliate scrolls, the foot almost rectangular.
Powered by a fixed barrel screwed to the potence-plate, engraved with foliate scrolls. Stop-work consists of a pinion on the mainspring arbor and a wheel with one uncut space on the potence-plate. Gilt-brass great and second wheels, the latter solid; steel contrate and crown wheels. The crown wheel runs between a riveted potence and a screwed-on counter-potence.
Verge and hammer alarm released by a cam on the dial wheel.

DIAL & HAND:
Gilt brass-edge with three feet, engraved around the outside with a gadroon border. Four lugs in the perimeter engage in recesses in the case band. Pinned-on silver chapter-ring with Roman hours I-XII and cross-shaped half-hour marks surrounding a double uncalibrated circle. In the centre a gilt-brass alarm-setting disc engraved 1-12 around a central rosette. At 12 a steel pointer for the hours and at 6 a brass stud to aid turning. Blued-steel hand.
Silver case with hinged bezel, split and glazed. The case is pierced and engraved with foliate scrolls between radiating bars around a central rosette. The bezel is engraved with a border similar to that on the brass-edge. Silver pendant with loose ring. Inside the case a bell screwed to a central square boss.
