Ass's hoof was considered efficacious against epilepsy. Cf. Proc. Soc. Ant. 2nd series, i, p 278. (J. Reichelt, De Amuletiss exercitatio, p. 20). Two rings with hoof, one mounted in gold, the other in silver with a shield of arms bearing a crescent and a star are in the Waterton Collection in the Victoria and Albert Museum (Proc. Soc. Ant. London, 2nd series i, p. 278)
