- Tonnochy noted that only one of the lords of Verdun-sur-Saône is recorded as bearing the name of William. He built a church there is 1344. The arms of the lords of Verdun were chevronny azure and or, like that of the town, azure, three chevrons or. The seal must have been broken after the death of its owner.
