Seal-matrix: Louis de Lorraine as Abbot of Cluny; bronze; circular; high ridge at back with pierced projection; shield of arms, eight quarters, 1. barry of eight (Hungary), 2. semé-de-lys (within a label of five points in chief] (Naples or Anjou-Sicily), 3. a cross potent between four cross crosslets (Jerusalem), 4. four pales (aragon), 5. semé-de-lys within a bordure (Anjou), 6. a lion rampant contourné crowned (Guelders), 7. a lion rampant crowned (Juliers or Flanders), two bar fishes addorsed between four crosses crosslet fitchée (Bar). On an inescutcheon, on a bend three allerions in bend, in chief a label of three points (Lorraine). The whole on an archbishop's cross in pale, the upper part above the shield the end of the standard below; above, a cardinal's hat; carved border; with wax impression.

- TSC notes that Louis of Lorraine, Archbishop and Duke of Rheims, peer of FRance was the son of Henri de Lorraine, Duke of Guise, and Catherine of Cleves, born after May 15, 1585,. He held the abbey of Saint-Denis and Moutier-en-Der from 1594, and that of Chaalis in 1601. He succeeded to the Archbishopric in 1605, afterwards obtaining the abbeys of Cluny, Corbie, Oncamp and Saint-Urbain de Châlon. He died in 1621.
