- Personal seal of the famous French Talmudic and biblical commentator Rabbi Samson (HaRaSH, or Ha-Sar, 'the prince') of Coucy . Rabbi Samson was born in the second half of the 12th century. He belonged to a distinguished family of French Talmudic scholars, and was one of a group of renowned rabbis living in northern France. The seal impression shows the letters of his name, Samson son of Samson, in Hebrew script surrounding a lion passant.
