Stoneware globular 'bartmann' jug; small; pewter lid-mount with erect thumbpiece; shouldered neck; strap handle with band of foliage in low relief; overall thick lustrous brown salt-glaze; applied moulded scrolled oak-leaf ornament covering body, high relief; pewter mark.

Cologne, probably the Maximinenstrasse workshop
Two bulbous jugs with flat bases, strap handles and pronounced neck-cordons. Dark grey stoneware with brown-tan surfaces under lustrous salt-glaze. Jug (R) with flat pewter lid and erect thumbpiece; the lid stamped on the underside with a crowned ‘D’ mark.
Both jugs applied with moulded oak-leaves and acorns, the necks with bearded facemasks; the jug (R) with a band of foliage in low relief down the handle.
