A similar instrument, larger but engraved with the same sort of numerals, is in the Greenwich Maritime Museum, reg. no. AST0265; see H. Higton, Sundials at Greenwich, Oxford 2002, no. 212, p. 217.
Inscribed on one side EN ORIZAVA, and the month scale displays an initial E for January (possibly Enero). Orizaba is a town in Mexico inlnand from Vera Cruz. The equinoxes are at about 20 March and 20 September.
