- Curator's comments
- This object is in two parts. The angel has been soldered onto the disk, and it would seem that the parts come from different objects. The plate engraved with a rose may have come from the terminal of a 16th century crucifix. The angel is perhaps 15th century. It is by no means clear at what point the two were combined, or what was the purpose of the disk. The hole pierced in the bottom suggests use as a pendant, but by this the angel would be seen upside down. For crucifixes, see Oman. PSH 28.10.91
