Description
Broad-rimmed bowl or plate with well. Earthenware covered front and back with presumed tin glaze. Painted, with red and golden lustre: on the front, Hercules in a lion skin, firing an arrow at Nessus who is carrying off Deianeira. In centre is the river god Evenus. After an engraving by Caraglio after Rosso, story from Ovid. The rim is painted yellow and lustred golden-brown; on the reverse scrolls in golden-brown lustre.
