Shallow dish on low foot; earthenware covered front and back with a presumed tin-glaze; painted on the front with Semele asleep in bed, approached from above by Jupiter, on the left another bed and Juno and Semele talking; Jupiter holds an armorial shield, yellow with an orange-brown cross, couped and slightly splayed, between sixteen blue allerions; the arms are slightly incorrect for Anne de Montmorency; inscription on the reverse.
