Stoneware baluster jug; with pewter mount terminal; lustrous brown salt-glaze; neck frieze - grotesque ornamental and geometric motifs around portrait mask; shoulder - frieze of stamped floral and perpendicular bar motifs bordered by concentric banding; central frieze: 3 oval roundels: 2 containing escutcheons of merchant marks and the other a version of the coat of arms of Burgundy; separated by lions supporting central roundel; urn and acanthus decoration.

Applied with a frieze moulded with the merchants’ marks of the Raeren potter Winand Emonts and a member of the de Wall family.
Baluster jug with strap handle and turned base; remains of pewter lid attachment on handle. Dark grey stoneware, the surface with a dark brown wash under a salt-glaze. Applied around the neck with a frieze of strapwork ornament, in the centre a female facemask. Applied around the body with a frieze containing three oval medallions: a version of the arms of Burgundy (1) (L); a shield containing the merchant’s mark of Winand Emonts supported by crowned lions (C); and a shield containing the merchant’s mark of a de Wall family potter (R). Vertical gadrooning between floral stamps on upper and lower body.
