Stoneware baluster jug; strap handle; turned base; pewter mount terminal; brown wash; overall lustrous salt-glaze; thumbed handle terminal; neck frieze - grotesque roundel busts and geometric scrolled ornament; shoulder - frieze of stamped rosettes and incised arched bands; geometric rouletting on turned bands around shoulder; lower body - stamped geometric/palmette motifs separated by perpendicular bars; body frieze - architrave columns separating Coats of Arms of the 6 Electors with Arms of the Holy Roman Empire at centre.

Jug
Applied body frieze dated 1606 with the monogram ‘HW’.
Baluster jug with strap handle and turned base; pewter lid attachment surviving on upper handle. Dark grey stoneware, the surface with a dark brown wash under a salt-glaze.
Applied around the neck with a frieze of floral strapwork between grotesque roundel busts and around the body with an arcaded frieze containing the seven coats-of-arms of the Electoral College with their identifying initials set within corresponding columns pf the arcade. The upper and lower body stamped with floral ornament, on the lower zone between incised vertical gadrooning.
