Bottle
Applied medallion dated 1599
Bulbous form with strap handle. The neck with a pointed conical pewter cover with neck strap and ornate linked thumbpiece. Dark grey stoneware, the surface with a brown iron wash under a thin salt-glaze; streaks of wash on the lower body. The underside of the base with widely spaced wire-marks.
Applied on the neck with a moulded bearded facemask; and on the body with an oval medallion containing unidentified arms (a scroll with two swords points downwards between three flowers issuing, impaling six annulets; crest: two wings displayed joined by a bar between two molets of eight rays) and the date 1599.
